Emergency Care Summary
An ECS is a summary of basic information about your health, for example current medication and allergies, which might be important if you need urgent medical care when your GP surgery is closed, or when you go to an accident and emergency department. It means that all NHS staff looking after you can get important information about your health, even if they cannot contact your GP surgery. If you decide you want to opt out of having your summary available for out-of-hours NHS staff to view, please contact the surgery. For further information, please ask the receptionist for a copy of the NHS Scotland leaflet entitled ‘Your Emergency Care Summary – What does it mean for you.
