Extended Hours

Early morning and evening clinic appointments

We have a few late evening and early morning appointments available for those patients who are unable to come to the Health Centre during the day.  This is NOT a walk-in service.  If you require urgent or emergency care then this will be at MIU, NHS24 or A&E.

Please see the receptionist for details.

NHS Minor Ailment Service At Your Community Pharmacy

This service is for people who meet the appropriate criteria.  This means that if your pharmacist thinks you need it, they can give you a medicine for a minor illness or complaint without you having to pay for it.  It will save you making an appointment with your GP simply to get a prescription for a minor complaint. The Pharmacy First Service is another service provided by the Pharmacy.  For further information ask at reception or at the Woodside Pharmacy.

Your appointment

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

Home visits

Home visits are at the discretion of the Doctor.  Please only ask for a home visit if you are genuinely unable to come to the Surgery due to a medical problem.  Home visits are for those who are housebound or too ill to travel.  Otherwise please try to come to one of the surgeries.

If you require a home visit, please telephone before 10am, if possible, giving details of your problem, if asked to do so.  This allows the Doctor to know how urgent the problem is and helps in the planning of the Doctor's rounds, with the most urgent cases as a priority.

Urgent visits can be obtained, when medically necessary, by calling the Surgery.  One of the Doctors will attend as soon as possible, but it may not be your usual Doctor.

Training Practice

We are a Training Practice and you may be offered an appointment with our GP Registrar/Trainee. He or she is a fully qualified doctor with several years' hospital experience and now gaining experience in General Practice. We also host medical and nursing students on attachment. The Practice is inspected for training / accreditation purposes.

Video/Audio consultations are sometimes used for training purposes and are entirely confidential, but your consent will always be sought beforehand, you can always change your mind afterwards, if this is the case please get in touch with the surgery.
